Known in Iceland Architecture and Construction Firm Glama-Kim Architect built in the town Stykkisholmur, which is located in the western part of Iceland, a small holiday village of modern, environmentally friendly, modular summer houses. The project architect-designer Olafur Matesena (Olafur Mathiesen) boasts spectacular views over the surrounding landscape, as well as the use of the available materials, combined with ease of construction and simplicity of design.
Each such house that can accommodate a family of five, is an excellent alternative to urban housing. Matesenom developed two different rectangular block, interconnected - an insulated, made of western red cedar, the main building material in Western Iceland, and other ordinary, gray in color, from a solid sheet of corrugated aluminum.
In the heat of a block of red cedar with a separate entrance, the size of four to thirteen meters, located kitchen, living room and dining room, a bathroom and storage rooms. In the gray box the size of four to eight meters are bedrooms and bathrooms. A small wooden porch, located on the south side, connects these two areas of the house where you can install additional sauna and jacuzzi.
In the inner space of the house using materials such as birch plywood and painted gypsum board for wall cladding, and the oak as a floor covering. For heating and hot water are used geothermal wells, thus in the house are the best climatic conditions throughout the year.
The larger of the two units constructed off-site and delivered to the construction site (its size is actually dictated by the size of the body), and the smaller unit is delivered in parts and assembled on site.
